Community Notes

The MMS bump

Thanks to all of those that help make myITforum.com such a great community!

Each year myITforum.com receives a nice bump in stats such as reach, traffic rank, and page views.  This year is no exception - except that our post-MMS bump this year propelled myITforum.com under the 100,000 mark in traffic rankings, at 99,006!

Think about that!  Of all of the millions of web sites on the Internet, a lowly systems management community has entered into the top 100,000 of all sites.

Now, let's keep it that way!

The Gmail worm affecting others

Since I only monitor the myITforum.com domain, I can only speak to the Gmail problem from that perspective.  However, it should be noted that reports are floating around that Gmail is having some unspoken, serious problems with their email structure.

Each day new Gmail accounts, that were fine the day before, are unable to receive emails from the myITforum.com domain.

Due to how this affects folks' usage of the myITforum.com email lists, members are moving away from Gmail to other, more trusted accounts with Yahoo and Hotmail.

So...the Gmail worm continues to evolve.  Watch your Gmail inboxes carefully.  Double-check that you are receiving all of the emails you were expecting.

    WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

Microsoft User Groups are independently run, volunteer groups that meet in-person on a regular basis to discuss and share information on a variety of technical topics. Held the last Thursday of each month (barring holiday schedules), the NY/NJ SMUG is focused on supporting the Microsoft systems management community in the region. Participation in a user group is an exciting, inexpensive way to receive the up-to-the-minute technical content, share notes from the field, and to meet with your peers to get more out of the Microsoft platforms, products, technologies, and resources upon which you depend.

The objective is to provide you with the latest insights on deploying and operating these products in your environment to achieve maximum functionality, while enabling you to minimize cost and risk associated with their use. In addition, participation in an active user community fosters professional development by keeping you abreast of the latest technical developments, issues, and networking opportunities with other skilled professionals.
