Want to be a blogger? Not happy with your current blogging service?
myITforum.com offers blogging services for free. Folks move their current blogs to myITforum.com all the time. We have several Microsoft employees that blog at myITforum.com, folks from 1E, employees from Dell, and also we have several new bloggers from Intel coming on board. Their blogs have been created and they are in the initial stages of learning the system. Why do they choose to blog at myITforum.com? There’s a few reasons, but the primary reason is that they get immediate exposure to the largest System Center product and scripting audience in the world. In reality, people blog to share ideas, experiences, and knowledge, but they also don’t want to feel like they are sending a message in a bottle – they want to make sure their voice is heard. By blogging at myITforum.com you get the best of both worlds – a place to share and a place to be seen and heard right away. And, you get to rub elbows with bloggers from some pretty cool places. Are there restrictions to what I can post? Not at all. The blog is yours. We create it for you and just hand over the keys. Do all of my posts have to be technical?
No. While we would hope that the majority of posts are technical in nature, we encourage some personal posts. It helps your audience get to know you and it helps promotes community. Is there a quota on my blog posts? Nope. You can post as often or as little as you like. We have enough bloggers on myITforum.com that post regularly that we’re not worried if you get too busy to blog. We feel that anything you have time to share is valuable to someone. And, if you have enough to share that you can outpost me – well, where have you been hiding out sunshine? Is blogging hard to do? If it was, I wouldn’t be doing it so much. Applications like Windows Live Writer make it so easy to gather ideas, save drafts, and then post to your blog when you’re ready. It allows you to work just like you’re used to. I’m ready! How do I get my own myITforum.com blog? Drop an email to admin@myITforum.com and ask for the blog. The blog can be set up in as little as 5 minutes. After setup, you’ll receive an email that welcomes you to your blog, and gives you all the information you need to get blogging right away.
Something really neat I did this past week – attended my first-ever Virtual User Conference
Stephen Wynkoop (remember him? he’s almost like a big brother to myITforum.com) has put together an amazing set of technologies that allow for a real-time virtual user conference. Stephen has captured the ability to give the the same look and feel as a real-world conference, but you get to attend in the comfort of your office and at your desk. Stephen contacted me last week to give me the opportunity to attend the vConference. I was amazed. I’m still amazed. Here’s a page with a video demo: http://www.vconferenceonline.com/sswug/demo.asp …and, here’s a page with all the rest of the details: http://www.vconferenceonline.com/sswug/ If you get a chance to attend one of his conferences, I highly recommend it. I have a con-call with Stephen this next week to work on putting together a myITforum.com vConference very soon. I’m really sold on this idea, and particularly how Stephen has put it all together. The experience is flawless. You even get to “mingle” with other attendees in the lobby, talk with presenters, and even take a look at vendors’ products in the Expo. The only things not included is the after-hours get-togethers, the provided meals, the SWAG grab, or the mad rush for the myITforum.com party button. We’ll see how it all shakes out, but this has definite possibilities and it will be great to work with Stephen again.
Google’s dominance on myITforum.com
Funny how Google’s piece of the pie looks like Pacman – either eating up the others or spitting them out. BTW: It is interesting that Microsoft’s search is actually ahead of Yahoo. It has been this way for quite some time.
