Description :
Applications can be deployed as a part of the operating system image or after the operating system is deployed to the target computer. To prepare for deployment you’ll need to create an application portfolio that includes a list of applications and the compatibility status of each application. You’ll also want to identify any dependencies between applications, determine whether to deploy applications with the operating system image or afterwards. Applications can be after the operating system using any software-deployment software, such as MDT 2010, Group Policy Software Installation or the Software Deployment feature in System Center Configuration Manager. In our case we’re going to include a couple of applications in our deployment so we need two things to configure the application, the source files and the quiet setup command. We’ll install two applications: Foxit Reader 2.3 and Video Lan Media Player. We’ll also install drivers, with a selection of drivers to import from existing M |

«Prev : Part 1 of 6: Windows XP to Windows 7 using a USB Drive - Creating a USB Deployment ShareTypically, target computers have high-speed, persistent connections to the deployment infrastructure. However, some target computers may connect to an intranet remotely or not at all. To deal with this, the MDT 2010 provides us with two methods for deploying operating systems and applications:Deployment share: This method uses a network shared folder in which all the deployment files reside and to which the client machine will connect. Media: This method creates an image that you can use to perform deployments from removable media, such as DVDs or USB flash drives (UFDs).In this screencast, we’re going to use the Media method and create a USB flash drive to do our installation. First thing we need to do is create a deployment share. We’ll go through the wizard and uncheck Allow Image Capture as we won’t be using this functionality. We’ll also check that the user is asked to set the administrator password. We’ll finish off the wizard accepting the defaults. Published : 2011/03/01 Views : 1849
