Another great year at MMS 2009! Bill Anderson and Josh Pointer presented the annual 'State of the Union' address. As always, it was very well done.

Bill and Josh demonstrated the next version of SCCM known as SCCM.vNext. There are so many cool features, it is hard to pick just one to like.

Some of the largest changes involve the MMC, The MMC is gone. The new interface will look more like the SCOM 2007 or Outlook toolbar or wonder-bar as it is sometime called.

RBAC - Role Based Access security will now be in the core product.

The other large change that was revealed to the MVP's at the last MVP summit, the stated changes in Hardware and Reporting Services.

Basically all SCCM.vNext site systems need to be on x64 Windows platform, and NO MORE ASP web reports, SQL Server Reporting Services only!

The SCCM.vNext stated

Minimum System Requirements:

64-bit Windows for all site servers and site roles except:

Branch DPs will run on SCCM.next client OS supported platforms

Win 2003 32-bit will be supported on file share only Standard DPs.

SQL 2008 – only 64-bit editions

Win 2008 64-bit (some may require 2k8 R2)

SQL Reporting Services is the ONLY reporting platform
