re: HP getting rid of Altiris on the server?
Rod,
HP never had hooks into Altiris Notification Server...something that bugged me to no end. They were planning to add a solution back in 2001, but I believe they decided to go with an HP branded solution and force server admins that way.
HP's RDP for deploying servers is based on Altiris Deployment Server and many shops are heavily invested into those scripts. It used to be the best way to deploy servers, but changes in deployment technologies (WDT, WIM, Altiris Hardware Independant Imaging, etc.) has made it pretty archaic these days. I don't have any knowledge of changes from RDP to HP Config Manager.
Config Manager. Good grief, do you think they could think up a name that would cause more confusion?)
