  • Alex advances to the 200m and 400m league finals

Despite near winter temperatures and wind-swept rain, Meg and I sat through Alex's league preliminaries last night. I wore waterproof clothes, but toward the end my legs were numb and I couldn't feel my knees. When the meet was finally over my joints were frozen and screamed with each step to...

  • Alex blew away the competition last night

Watch this video of Alex pushing through on the 400m last night. The kid he's running against beat Alex a few weeks ago. It's been a strange season. Alex pulled a hamstring about a week into the season, had to sit out a couple weeks, and lost his stamina. His hamstring seized up on him at a few...

  • Alex runs in the District finals tomorrow...the saga continues

Alex qualified Thursday night for the 400m District final. After a 10:00am bball tournament game for me, we’re off to watch him run at 2:00pm. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. It’s an exciting time. They take the top 4 District finalists to the Regionals, and Alex has a great chance...

  • More about Alex's track meet yesterday

Whew…it was close to 80 degrees at about 9:30am yesterday morning. Suffice to say, I spent the entire day in the sun and I once again look like a half-boiled lobster. I say “half” boiled, only because I kept my clothes on. The rest of me is as white as the *** of a Christmas turkey...

  • Alex Trent - the SWBL 400m Champion and Meet Record Holder

Despite his pinkie toe splitting yesterday, Alex held on to win the 400m to become the Southwestern Buckeye League Champion. He also broke the meet record which was set last year by a senior. Districts start this Thursday. Alex’s coach said they take the top 4 in Districts to the Regionals. Then...

  • Bragging Dad...

Alex, our oldest (a Sophomore in high school), as you may remember, is a speedster. He just came off a 2-day track invitational. Last night he came in 2 nd in the 400m championship. The leader (a Senior) beat him by .02 of a second. Alex finished with a 51.03, which is pretty good. The best part, his...

  • Alex finally back to playing status

I mentioned a while back about Alex (our oldest) becoming a track star. I think I also mentioned that he tore a muscle in his leg and had to sit out about half of the track season. He’s been in sport therapy for the last 6 weeks or so. Well, he has the green light again, and he’s back to...

  • Alex came close to beating the Ohio state record tonight

We just arrived home from our oldest’s track meet. He came within 9/10’ths of a second from beating the state record in the 400. Every time he runs he shaves off another second. We’re hoping that he’ll smash the state record on Friday.

  • Big Day in the Trent Household

Tonight starts the qualifying rounds for the league championships for Track and Field. Alex is ready and healthy and I believe he's going to do really well. It's a cold, rainy day, and the forecast calls for the same tonight during the meet, so keep Alex in your thoughts and prayers as he tries...

  • A great season comes to an end

Alex ran his heart out at the Regionals last night , but didn’t qualify for the finals on Saturday. In fact, he ran probably the slowest time he’s run all season (53 seconds in the 400m). Right before the meet, he banged his knee on a railing. And, then during the race, his new shoes killed...
