Our network guys have asked about the following two network technical specs/requirements for SCCM 2007 R3 multicasting: Multicast version used by imaging server? V2, V3? Mode? Sparse. Sparse-dense? Comments appreciated - supporting document links even better! Many thanks

Just an FYI, Both of those settings should not matter. You do need to enable PIM using one of them, I use sparese-dense-mode on my Cisco 6513 controlled network. Version2 of multicast support is fine. HOWEVER, the default multicast IP addresses used is bad. Also if your PXE service point is Windows2008R2 then you need to set the start addresses inside of the registry. SCCM2007 any release does not set the registry entries in the correct location within the registry. Google around some and you should see a few useful articles. Also need to make sure that all files were placed in the PXE service point correctly. I have learned how to remove and reinstall the PXE point quite well now ... -Patrick-
