Morning to all the clever SMS people out there, I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with. We make use of SMS2003 in an AD 2003, and SMS gets its info from AD. We make use of Windows DNS, DHCP and WINS. The problem is this, when I ping a pc name I get one IP, when I do a NSLOOKUP on that IP, I get a totally different PC responding, so somewhere my DNS, and WINS and DHCP isn’t updating and working in conjunction like they should, this cause my SMS to have more pc’s that it’s supposed to have. Where can I get the process and steps to configure these components so that they gel 100%?

You need to look into DNS aging and scavenging, as well as DHCP lease time, and how your environment is set up. For example, if you have a lot of wireless clients that only grab an IP address for a few hours a day, you'd want aging and scavenging to occur more often and DHCP lease time to be short. If you only had desktops that stay on all day long, aging/scavenging and lease time are less of an issue. Lots of people have ran into the same issues you have, you just have to find a formula that works for you.
