Hi,

I'm deploying 1 common image to more then 20 different hardwarde models\brands. So far so good.

I received a new hardware model, after the first reboot of WinPE, so just before Sysprep needs to start
I see only a few seconds the logo of XP and then the PC reboots all the time.

If I boot the system in safe mode I noticed that the system looks to get stuck on AGPCPQ.sys, the file loaded
before this sys file is AGP440.sys.

Anyone an idea what is going wrong here? I assume the files are relying on the chipset of the video controller?

I injected these drivers unfortunately no success.

Anyone another suggestion?

Tnx Nico

Does it Bluescreen?  If so, what's the code?  Are you deploying XP SP2 or SP3?  Does the system have a SATA drive controller?

Note that in safe mode, the drivers list displays succesfully loaded drivers, thus it's actually getting stuck on the driver after AGPCPQ.sys.

I think you'll find its the HAL type that's the problem i.e. your destination PC has a different HAL from the image

Hi guys

Thanks for your reply.

I'm deploying XP SP2, the system is not blue dumping

I see the XP splash screen for a few seconds and then the systems reboots and starts to loop.

Possible that's a different HAL but I thought Windows PE 2.0 was HAL independent?
I'm using this image today on ceveral different models and hardware types, without problems.

Is there a solution? I don't want to create a dedicated image for this model. (Lenovo A61)

Tnx

Nico

When the system starts up press F8 like you are going into safe mode.  The last option on the menu is something like don't restart in the event of a crash.  This will allow the system to stay at the blue screen so that you can read the error code.  If it is a HAL issue (which I actually doubt unless you are using old hardware -- 4-5+ years old), as Johan mentions, HAL switching is sometimes not supported so you may want to factor this into the equation also.  The two most common issues are lack of SATA drivers and the Uberbug.

OK the root cause was an AMD as CPU

I had to stop the intelppm service startup type if in AMD CPU is detected
