I plan to install a SUP on my secondary server. My question is concerning the installation of WSUS 3.0 SP1. Should I install the same way as on my Primary site? In particular, Store updates locally, DB, & Custom Web site. For example, it seems redundant to "create" a cutom web site that already exists?

I understand that when all is said and done, it will be configured as a replica.

like always it will really depend. If your connection is not an issue, you can use the primary database with a new database instance. If thsi server is being used for other IIS functions you should install WSUS not on the default was site., you should created a custome one. When that is done make sure to update your ports on the priamry site. the way i have it setup on my enviroment, i offloaded SUP and WSUS ot its own server. I installes WSUS on the default website becasue it was not going to be used for anything else. I installed the WSUS databas locally as it will only store that metadata and per MS this database does not have space limitations. Let me know if you have any questions, sound like you have the same questions i had before.. but like i said from the start it all depends.. :)
