I'm just testing out deploying office 2007 which is working fine. I've noticed 2 things after i click the "New Programs Available" icon in the system tray and then the Add or Remove Programs window pops up:

1. Along with the Office 2007 install, there are also options to add apps we've deployed via group policy which we don't want people seeing. Is there anyway to hide these?

2. After the 2007 installation completes, the add or remove program window doesn't close but stays there with the same apps to install. Is there anyway to stop that from happening so that once the app is installed the window closes?

i figured it out. On the agent settings on the server i just unchecked the box to show the add remove programs window when users click on the new program notification. My bad

Having said that, is the only way to remove it from the Run Advertised Programs to expire, disable the program or the advertisement completely?

There's one other, but it depends if the advertisement was already mandatory.  On the advertisement properties, Interaction tab "Allow users to run the program independently of assignments"  If it's an optional advertisement (no assigned date/time to install), naturally it will have to be visible.
