All, I'm somewhat new to the SMS world, so hopefully I don't ask questions that are too silly. Anyway, I'm having an issue with what I think to be BITS related but I'm not sure. I have set up an few different packages and I have deployed them just fine to users that are on the LAN. However, that very same package will not deploy to the remote user. I believe I have the subnets set up correctly so the remote user can hit the distribution point. I noticed in the console that the client receives the advertisement and on one occasion on a spare laptop I keep in my home that a folder on the client system was created ( C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\Cache\Packge folder) but the files do not push down. I checked some of the log files, but I really don't know what to look for, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

how are the remote clients connected? via vpn?

Not sure what happened but somehow I would log in to MyITForum and it said I was logged in as a guest, I could not reply. Anyway I created a new log-on, "dstearns94" is now "dstearns213". Yes jmlewis, the end users that do not receive the package are tunneled in over a VPN.

ok. we have the same issue with users via the vpn receiving packages and connecting via remote tools. i think it has to be because of the limited bandwith or something. i will see if i can find any sort of answer for you and post.

see if this makes any sense. i found this part of the article on MS TechNet. it relates to SCCM 2007 but it all sounds relative.

If clients assigned to the site can install software updates and run advertisements when they are directly connected to the intranet but not when they are connected over a virtual private network (VPN) connection, this is likely to be a configuration issue related to boundaries and the software update deployment or advertisement configuration. If you haven't defined the VPN scope used by these clients as a boundary for their assigned site, the VPN connection will be considered to be within a slow network boundary. You will also see this issue if you have defined the VPN scope as a boundary but it is configured as a slow network boundary rather than a fast network boundary. In either of these scenarios, if software update deployments or advertisements are configured to not install for clients connected to a slow network boundary (the default configuration), VPN clients will not be able to access this content until they are connected directly to the intranet (on a defined, fast network boundary).

jmlewis, just wanted to write back and let you know after reading over the link you provided I took a closer look at the Boundaries set up in my SMS Server. You were right on; I had two subnets that were listed in both the roaming boundary section and the site boundary section. I removed the two subnets from the roaming boundary section and everything seems to be working fine now. Thank you!
