I don't have much experience with WSUS, but I was wondering what are the benefits of using WSUS integrated with SCCM?

We setup SCCM with WSUS but we haven't configured it yet, and now the WSUS admin is thinking about just building his own server.

Here is the short list I could come up with

Advantages:
-All in one console
-Better reporting?

Disadvantages:
-Wasted space with downloading the updates to a repository, then copying them to a distrobution point for deployment.

not wasted space, saved bandwidth. By using DPs you upload to the office once, and the clients pull from there.
Better management, and tracking.
Maintenance windows provided with SCCM
Control, you decide when and how the patches go out.
