Client push installation log Tuesday, April 21, 2009 2:41 PM (permalink)

I used client push installation wizard to install SCCM SP1 client to all the computers. Is there log or status messages I can view to see how many clients successfully received this upgrade?

Are you using a Fall back Status Point? On your reporting point check the SMS Client - Client Information category. It has a lot of nice reports.

Currently no, but I just installed this role so I can access these reports. How up to date are these reports? I deployed the upgraded client about an hour ago - will I be able to view the reports after an hour?

Take a look at the ccm.log on the SCCM server, in that logfile all the communication with the clients will show up. Clients should pretty  much start upgrading immediately when you do a push installation.
However, the clients might take a while to update their managementpoint with the info that the new client has been received.

        Good luck //Paul

Hi, any idea what can be wrong that is causing that none of Client Information Reports available (assigment, deployment) shows no data? We are using Fallback Status Point in our site. Are there any other prerequisites for having these report data availible?

          thanks

It's too late to look at the FSP now.  That had to be in place before you upgraded so the clients would know where to install to.  Spot check some clients manually.  Then just look at the console to see what version the clients are reporting they're on.  Look at the ccrretry folder in the inboxes to see if it failed to reach clients.
FWIW, the next time, I'd use software distribution to send an upgrade like SP2 instead of client push.  It's nice to the network and you can just watch the ad status.
