Hi,

There is a standard report in metering called "Concurrent usage for all metered software programs", I need to be able to create a  "Concurrent usage for all metered software programs by collection", does anyone know if this is possible?

Eric.

No that is not possible once the summarizer does its thing.

I was affraid someone would say that.

Is there any other way to create my own summerisation table for a spacific collection?... or is it that you it can't be done full stop?

Thanks.

I'm sure that you could but it would not be supported and you would have to write the routine that would need to be run before you automatic summary routine. In other words, this is a lot of work, are you should that you care about metering data by collections?

Agian, was affraid you would say that due to SMS purging data from the raw tables after summerization.  Thanks for you help though.  I guess the only way is what I was thinking, which was to create my own summarization routine hence a custom table before SMS data purges = as you said... a lot of work!

Thanks.

I thought the software metering data doesn't disappear until the "Delete Aged Software Metering Data" maintenance task runs?

My first thought is just increase the number of days in that task until it suits your needs (and then watch to make sure the DB size isn't growing exponentially :)

That's correct.  The default is 5 days I think.  However to obtain concurrent usage over a period for any month in a year for arguments sake then that would mean increasing that 5 days to 365 and thus the database would grow rapidly.

What I was thinking was to run a custom summarization task before "Delete Aged Software Metering Data" is called and update a separate table with the data I need.  This would then allow me to include a collection column rather than just a sitecode column.

To be honest, unless for some wild reason it is necessary I think it's a no go.
