Great.  Found my first issue with the new R2 release. My lab is running SCCM + SP1 the full RTM copy of the software so that I can test this in my lab as closely as possible to production.  The R2 release doesen't seem to like it one bit.  It wants the evaluation copy of SCCM SP1 to work.  Here is the text from the error message. "The evaluation of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 can only be installed on an evaluation Configuration Manager Service pack 1 site or higher." Anyone have a way around this one?

Yuck!  Have you contacted MS about this?  I cant imagine that you should have to have an eval version of SCCM in order to test R2...

Microsoft is aware of the issue and working on a communciation and potential solution.  In the interim, there is a way around it:

Keep in mind that it's not supported by Microsoft and actually breaks the EULA.  It's best to roll this out for testing in a lab or something.

I am rolling this out on a few VMs in my Lab Environment.  I want to get my feet wet with Application Streaming via SCCM R2.  I have already setup a Softgrid 4.5 beta environment and want to compare the 2. My plans would be to eventually use the Softgrid sequencer to package the apps and then stream them via SCCM R2 instead of building out a stand alone Softgrid infrastructure.

Can't quite figure this one out....

I've modified the MSI as mentioned above and I now get an error...

DEBUG: Error 2602:  The File table entry '_sgrprt_mof.450528D5_9EF5_4074_883D_C7B4A0583016' has no associated entry in the Media table.

Any thoughts?  I would really like to install R2 in my lab environment without having to rebuild with an eval version of SP1.

I have to admit that I have no idea what MS was thinking about with this seemingly arbitrary decision concerning app versions.

Disregard my previous post.  Somehow Wise Installer was mucking up the install, using Orca all is well.
