I accidently put a check in the checkbox for FQDN in the management point dialog box.
when i check the adminui.log on the server it shows an error message:

Error: Possible UI connection error code is -2147217389[0x80041013]

Is there somehow i can change the setting without using the admin console?
maybe in the registry someware.
i really need some help with this, i can´t seem to find any info anywhere about this problem.

I've seen that error caused by a number of things such as:

SQL server agent not started
WMI service not started
Firewall blocking the ports

Thank you for your reply!

To answer your questions:
no, i can not connect from another machine, the local mmc on the computer that i tries to connect from only says connection failed.
sql server agent is started
wmi serviceis started
Firewall is not enabled.

I have reviewed the technet article you sent me, but no luck...
Do i have to reinstall sms on the server?
it seems so strange to me that it is possible to more or less kill the sms site with that little checkbox for "fully qualified doman name"
anymore ideas?

Status: offline 		I doubt you'll need to rebuild your SMS site because it's a connectivity issue.

From another post by Kim O

Have you tried
rundll32 wbemupgd, CheckWMISetup
Or
rundll32 wbemupgd, RepairWMISetup

Check the Mofcomp.log file after you've run that. If there are errors, rebuild your WMI repository. http://windowsxp.mvps.org/repairwmi.htm

I know, i'm skipping over the fact that it doesn't work on another machine. But worth a shot anyway.

jmcleish, I am not sure that it is the fqdn, how can i change it?
when i try to connect to the sms server i think it should be the servername followed by .domainname.local, but like i said, i dont know where to change it.

i just cant get it to work, when i try to do this:
Troubleshooting SMS namespace connectivity


loadTOCNode(3, 'moreinformation');

Make sure that the user can connect to the SMS namespace and the SMS_'sitecode' namespaces. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, and then type wbemtest.
  2. Click Connect, type \\siteserver\root\sms, and then click Login.
  3. Click Enum Classes, click Recursive, and then click OK.
  4. In the Query Result list, double-click SMS_ProviderLocation.
  5. Click Instances, and then double-click the line that contains the target site code. For example, SMS_ProviderLocation.SiteCode="xxx."
  6. In the Properties section, locate the NamespacePath line. You may have to double-click this line to see the whole line.
  7. Copy the NamespacePath value to the clipboard. For example, copy the following value:
    \\server_name\root\sms\site_xxx

If you successfully complete this procedure, you can connect to the site server and enumerate the SMS namespace.

i cant find SMS_ProviderLocation
well, this afternoon i called Microsoft and started a supportcase, they will call me tomorrow morning, swedish time.
i hope that they can help me with this.
if we get it to work, i´ll post our solution here.

I talked to microsoft and they did send me a lot of suggestions that might work, but no luck.
I tried to install sp 3 on the site an error message about connection to sql from sms appeard.
i then changed the sql connection account to a domain account, and after that i worked...
