Via the CCM console, I created a new Secondary Site. It now appears in the console tree as Pending.
Is there a log file that I can view to monitor the installation progress?

error 5 is an access denied message

Make sure that your primary server is added to local admin group of your secondary server and the
appropriated local SMS groups.

Make sure the secondary server is member of the local SMS groups on the primary server

The primary server isn't in the local admin group of the secondary server, and there are no SMS groups on it.
I checked one of our other secondary servers (that someone else set up), and our primary server isn't in the local admin group on that either (and it is functioning fine).

However, the non-functioning secondary site IS in the SMS_SitetoSite group on the primary server.

Update: after adding the primary server's computer account to the local admins group on the target secondary server, things appear to be moving along.
What's confusing me is, the primary server's computer account is NOT in the local admins group of another secondary server that's already been configured and is running just fine.

New problem:
I kicked off an install of another seconday site via the CCM console and upon checking the ConfigMgrSetup.log on the target server, it looks like the install crapped out when trying to install the MSXML 6.0 parser (due to the target server having an old version of Windows Installer). I logged onto the target server and installed both items successfully; now how do I tell Config Manager to restart the Site install?

check the preinst.exe tool under the SMS folder bin\i386\00000409 if I remember well

With this to tool you force jobs between the servers

Sounds good, any idea which switch I would use?

I just ended up deleting it and starting over.
However on yet another site I'm turning up, it looks like everything installed OK, but it hasn't reported in as Active yet. According to the configmgrsetup.log, the install completed successfully. Looks like all the appropriate servies are running on the target server, and SMS_sitecode/SMS_Site are shared out. What am I missing?

What does your sender.log on the sec site say?  Is it communicating with the Primary?
