Hi,

I'm testing several Group Policies to steer the behavior of NWM ... but I'm lost.

For example the Policy mentions:
Shutdown / logoff and Retry Configuration
Disabled = No shutdown scheduled.

So I set it to Disabled (needed for a bunch of clients), apply the policy, run a GPUpdate and check with NightWatchman.exe -settings

And what do I get?
ShutdownTime = 19:00
ShutdownDays = Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri

LogoffAction = ACTIVE
...
SystemTray = OFF

I know the Policy must have been applied, 'cause the SystemTray Off is also one of the settings ... and I find it in the Software\Policies\1E\NightWatchman50

Is there a way to determine all settings that are really, really applied & active (except digging through the log files)?

Thanks,
Serge

are you using the 1E ADM template included with NWM??? That is the place to start

Yes, I am.

What I'm actually trying to find out is:
- I configured settings using the template.
- What is the resultant set on the client?  Where (how) can I visualize this on the client?

Thanks,
Serge

all settings are readily visible in the HKLM hive for the 1E/NWM section...

also use std GPEdit console *on* client to see what the incoming policy looks like... something's goofy it seems

Ed,

The HKLM 1E/NWM section as in Software/Policies/1E or Software/1E, because these don't match either. I understand that the Policies bit 'overrules' ...
For example the Software/1E/NWM states Reporting=OFF and the Software/Policies/1E/NWM states Reporting=ON (the actual Policy setting).

But Software/1E still contains shutdown settings, hours, days, etc ... that have no counterpart in the Software/Policies/1E ... adding to the confusion.

Cheers,
Serge

I'm talking about the HKLM_Software_1E_NightWatchman50

stuff like ShutDownAction
ShutDownDays
ShutDownHrs
ShutDownMins

etc
etc

I think that the answer that you are looking for is that you will need to check in the log files or use an RSOP tool to check the final settings that are applied. I'm not sure why we do not/are not able to show this in the settings page but will ask why.

AH!!! You are indeed correct! Thanks for bringing this to our attention... something for the fix list for v5.5.

Sorry if I misunderstood the nature of the problem and causing further confusion! :-)
