Hi there,

Lately the number of machines, in "All System" Collection is growing every day...

And i figured out that here are to many duplicate names. or worst... 3 same hostnames in one collection... Actually i think this is happening for these reasons: if a hostname change it IP...

...OK but what i want is how to do some quickly and easily erase of all duplicate entrys in all collections??!!

Regards,
Ridvan

Most likely its because your support people are reimaging PCs using the same name as previous - ideally they should be using a new name or you get these duplicates. They should be listed under the Obsolete column as "Yes". Simply sort and then do a delete special on the selected items

If this happens all the time create a collection of obsolete computers - sorry haven't got console in front of me at the moment so can't give you the syntax but it will something like system.obsolete = 1. Then just right-click the collection and do a delete special from time to time

Don't forget there's a task to delete the obsolete records by default every 7 days that you should enable

Iburnell Thank you very much,

It works fine and the exact query is this:
select NetbiosName, LastLogonUserName from  SMS_R_System where Obsolete = 1 order by NetbiosName

Once again thank you.

Regards,
Ridvan
