It was suggested that I post this question here, even though it is for OpsMgr 2007.

I am having difficulty identifying the smallest amount of Dell IPMI or OMSA to add to a server so that I can get reporting in the Dell MP. The reason I am trying to limit instead of just installing the latest OMSA (5.4) is because on 4 out of 5 servers that I have loaded it on so far, the OMSA has caused the server processor time to jump to 40-60% at idle and causes the OpsMgr scripts to time out, let alone any other function the server is supposed to be performing.

It seems that it is the storage management pieces that are chewing up the cycles, as well as causing WMI to spin up and even crash.

Anyone else have an luck with this? The only thing I have been able to find so far is for Linux. Or what are you guys using to identify hardware failaures through OpsMgr (drive failure in raid, power supply, etc...)

I would suggest sending this to the MOM mail list on myitforum for maximum exposure. First I would make sure you are using the newest OMSA which can be downloaded from dell's web site. I would also suggest that you get the following Windows 2003 update, WMI fix 933061 from microsoft. if neither of those help again I would suggest hitting the mom mail list on myitforum too.
Hope this helps!
