Despooler 4406 errors

I keep getting Despooler 4406 errors (SMS Despooler received an instruction and package file from site ABC that contains either software distribution data or inter-site replication data, however the signature on the package is not valid, the despooler will delete the instruction and the package file) across most, but not all of my secondary sites. (My AD schema is extended.)

My depooler log has entries like this:
Cannot use public key XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX to verify package signature from site ABC (Win32 error = 2148073478) SMS_DESPOOLER 05/19/2008 2:58:43 AM 1196 (0x04AC)

Delete the instruction (D:\SMS\inboxes\despoolr.box\receive\ds_3k5xw.ist) from site ABC, the signature is bad. SMS_DESPOOLER 05/19/2008 2:58:43 AM 1196 (0x04AC)

However, the next job from the same site (in as little as 6 seconds later) doesn't have this issue. It seems to happen more often on sites that are poorly connected, so I'm wondering if I just need to crank up the Status Summarizer numbers for the Despooler or if I actually have a problem here. (Though if I look at the scheduler, the jobs appear to retry successfully...)

Anyone have a clue what this is?

Does this happen on a specific package or just intersite replication? This is not normal, I had some poorly connected site and I haven't seen this before.

I think it's coming from one package, but I can't quite tell how to match any data from the despooler.log file back to a package name. Right now I'm search on the .sni file in the sched.log and looking for Status: Failed. Is there a better way?

Do you use the showjobs.exe utility?

Did you find a solution to this error? I'm having the same problem with a slower site trying to update it with the Software Update package. How do fix error 4406?

No, I still have the issue. It tends to happen on the sites with the worst wan links (the same ones that give me 5-10 MP Control errors a day)....so I'm just chalking it up to that. It looks like my data eventually retries, so I'm just living with it.
