Here's my question:

Is the Distributed COM Users local group even connected to anything SMS related? I've gone through several tests to check out reporting site configurations and have found that I still have to go in through dcomcnfg and manually enter in the correct security and launch permissions in order to not receive the ever-popular ASP error. Granted I can just add and configure the local group in the DCOM console and then add users or groups to that local group to accomplish what I need in a much easier way, but I was just wondering if I missed something?

Where SMS is installed on Server 2003 SP1\2, a user's ID must be in a group in the local DCOM group if they are to be able to open the SMS console at their desk.  Server 21003 RTM didn't have this lock-down.
