I have a small % of duplicate ComputerName records showing in SMS, each record is duplicated by the Client either reporting Yes or No or rather 1 and null as listed in the query criteria.  Before I go ahead and delete the records that are reporting Client = No or null, I am trying to understand how these specifc set of records are created after the ones listed with Client = Yes?

Wouldn't the most recent record be the one that is active?  The ones listed as Client = Yes?

Not a high urgency on this one.

The client has requested a new GUID for some reason. Could be re-image, or client failed and re-installed itself. The old records will go away eventually, depending on how you have things set up.

Yes, I should mention that these records are appearing as a result of a corrupted SMS Client installation on one of the images, but this is now fixed, but wondering as to why the duplicate records with Client = No is created after the Client = Yes - would seem it would be the other way around or am I missing something?

When the machine was discovered it was assigned a guid. When the client installed by means other than client push it requested and was given a new guid. At least, that's the way I can see it happening. Are you certain the "client=no" record was created _after_ the successful one?

I completely understand your logic, which is the same thought process I had originally, but the reason for this post is to point out the differences in records based on client=no being created after client=yes.  It's only happening with a few machines, so it's not a big issue, just thought I would put it out there.

pwstrain - thanks for the feedback.

On either of the duplicates, is there a "previous GUID" in the properties of the client, and does it match the other one?
Just curious at this point.

Actually, found a little more info on the issue,

It seems that ActiveDirectory is discovering these specific machines at 12am (record #1 in attached by creation date), but it doesn't seem to recognize the already created record in SMS with the same ComputerName (record#2 in attached below) - so it creates the record anyhow (with no GUID and other information).

Attached is a side by side comparison of record #1 where client = no,

Any further insight would be appreciated.
