We have been deploying applications via GPO filter groups for some time. We are moving away from that process and will be using SMS 2003 SP3 instead. I would like to create collections from dynamic queries based on AD filter groups (our Service Desk has been trained to move machines in and out of filter groups as users need applications). I see that AD System Group discovery goes down to the level of OU's and their child objects but it does not appear to discover filter groups. How are others doing this or does anybody have a better way to approach my problem?

Thanks

take a look at System Resource - System Group Name in the collection query and see if that is what you're looking for.  You will have to enable Active Directory System Group Discovery for it to show anything.

You guys rock! I already had AD System Group Discovery turned on, yesterday, scheduled to run at midnight, but was not sure if it would go down to the filter group level. Just ran the first query from the sample queries and the results returned the filter group I specified.

Thanks so much!
