We've recently encountered an issue shortly after our deployment of MS08-014 (excel security patch, march 2008) with file types being blocked in Excel 2003. Further investigation has shown that the same file types blocked by Office 2003 SP3 (outlined http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938810) are blocked by this patch. This is not documented by Microsoft anywhere on the KB for the MS08-014 patch. Additionally, after the March 2008 patches are applied, Office 2003 incorrectly reports itself as SP3.

We will be implementing the SP3 admin templates for GPO to resolve this issue in our environment.
