Greetings.

Bit of a story here.

Client set up a new server, and created a new account called Admin2 and did all their software installs under that account, including SMS. Later on, they deleted the Admin2 account and started using the default local administrator account. However, they had not granted the local admin account any rights in the SMS console before deleting Admin2.

I've added the default local administrator to the local SMS Admins group. When we open the SMS console, it connects correctly but none of the items in the tree expand, and we cannot adjust the permissions.

Thoughts on how to fix this? Is it just a matter of adjusting DCOM permissions to get the console back?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Random thought:  can you create an account called "Admin2" ?  I'm not sure, but I think it may not be secured via uniqueID, but by name. If the name is the same... ?

SMS uses WMI which does NOT use GUIDs. You should be fine...
