Hi Folks

I'm curious to hear if anyone may know what Microsoft has in store for ADS in the future, seeing as BDD2007 now handles server builds.

We use ADS for bare metal server builds, and it works nicely with our Dells using the DTK to flash firmware, setup RAID, and load predefined BIOS values.  I don't think you can do this sort of thing with BDD/WDS/SMS OSD (which we use for workstation builds).

I would like to use just one deployment tool, such as BDD, but the virtual floppy image support in ADS would be hard to give up.

Anybody know if ADS will still be supported/improved by MS down the track?  Is there a way to do h/w config using BDD (ala ADS)?.

cheers
Rob

ADS is end-of-life. The future is Microsoft Deployment/Config Manager 2007

just in case anyone stumbles across this post looking for h/w config using MDT, Dell recently updated their ADS toolkit for the WinPE environment -
OpenManage Deployment Toolkit v2.6 (DTV v2.6)
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/format.aspx?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz&deviceid=4450&libid=36&releaseid=R201648&vercnt=2&formatcnt=0&SystemID=PWE_R900&servicetag=&os=WNET&osl=en&catid=-1&impid=-1

Allows for scripted raid, bios, drac, etc fw update and setting config.
