I am having problems with the network driver on the HP 6930p laptop.
Downloaded the XP driver from HP website and imported into ConfigMgr and updated Boot Image x86.
When booting receive error message that the network controller could not be found?
Also tried the Intel 82567 LM driver from Intel's site with no luck.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Windows PE 2.x, which is used for the boot images in ConfigMgr is based on Vista.  Check the network driver that you downloaded as it also must be Vista compatible for it to work in WIndows PE 2.x.  Generally, you end up downloading and importing both versions -- XP and Vista -- even if you are only deploying XP.  Make sure to only integrate the Vista driver into your boot images though as the XP one, as you've probably discovered, won't work.

There are two ways of making it work in WinPE.
1)  Download the Driver directly from Intel
2)  Modify the E1Y6032.INF file that comes with the 6930p
    Change the [Manufacturer] section from
...
%Intel% = Intel, NTx86.6.0, NTx86.6.0.1
...
To
...
%Intel% = Intel, NTx86.6.0.1, NTx86.6.0
...
(Placing the 'NTx86.6.0.1'  before the 'NTx86.6.0')

I would go with the version from Intel, since editing the INF file causes the driver to go unsigned

Edit:  I just reread the Original Post.
What version of the Intel Driver from Intel's site is getting used ?
I have been using the '07/16/2008,9.52.10.0' version of e1y6032.inf

mseely & jsandys

Vista driver would not import and gave error "platform not supported".
I resolved this by  following your instructions and edited the inf file and it worked perfectly.

Sorry for the slow reply, tons of projects and problems.

Thank you very much for your help!
