Hi,

I have a SCOM 2007 installation, with one management server and trying to receive alerts from an HP server when one of the physical disks goes down (gets pulled out of its bay). Currently I get no alerts at all. If I stop a service on the same box, I get alerted within a miniute, so assume the MOM agent is functioning OK. All the HP insight agents are loaded  on the server being tested and all the HP services are running except the HP event notifer service. I think - but cant find a definitive on this  - that this service is used for SNMP trap sending, but may be Im wrong there. However the service wont start. The drive being pulled from the bay DOES get reported in the server's event logs.

Any clues would be appreciated?

Regards

Try the HP Proliant Management pack. It should give you visibility into all of the Insight Manager alerts.

Hi Paul - thanks for the response.
I forgot to mention that I have both the relevant HP management Packs loaded as well -  my fault sorry. I thought that - may be - the HP Insight agents would send data to the MOM agents - or that the agents picked up alerts from the Insight agents - but this doesnt seem to be happening.
Wheh Im in the offive tomorrow, I can drop some more specifics on the MP names if that helps, but thi bnk there are only 2 MP's that are relevant to SCOM and HP on the Microsoft cataloge site.

thanks again

Hi again,

The relevant MPs are: HP Proliant Servers Base v 1.0.33.0 and HP Servers Core Library v 1.0.33.0 as well.
Ive restarted the Insight agent services and this has at least got the HP Systems Management Homepage working which wasnt. This shows me that HP Systems Management Homepage is registering the fact that the drive bay is u/s, and therefore the agents must be working(?).
I know different alerts get escalated at different times, depending on who built the MP and how they view the urgency of the alert , but Ive now waited 2 hours and still no alert in the console. So in the absence of any further advice Im going to uninstall the HP agents and reinstall them and check again the MP catalogue for anything Ive missed.
Anything else folks - please feel free....

Kim
