How to create "Server Share" DP

Given that Server share is no longer an option how do you create you own shared folder distribution point? I've always created a server share to allow the share to be moved from disk to disk using the same share name if needed without affecting SCCM

Isn't it best to just let it use the content library to save space? I don't know of a way to force it to act like CM07.

Interesting. Just reading Kent Agerlund's blog on it So does this mean that although the smspgkd$ share is effectively redundant now - if everything is held in the content library? and what would happen if you wanted to move that SCCMContentlib folder to a different drive - given its a share I assume you could move it over if necessary

Yes, and I have a doc for moving the library. Not sure if it's supported. Let me find out before I post it.

Yeah, no dice. Not supported yet. Avoid the need by using the no_sms_on_drive.sms file in advance, I guess.

it is not supported anymore with the changes in the way that ConfigMGR 2012 distributes packages. You only set up a DP now and ConfigMGR finds the drive with the least amount of space and sets up the shares on those. With packages everything is still the same as it was, but with Applications everything is now distributed differently. I know there should be something out there on how the new model works, but I can't seem to find it.

There is an option to choose the Primary and Secondary drive when you set up the DP. I have always set up a server share for our DP as well and this is new.
