I'm running SMS 2003, sp3. We're a small outfit, so I only have the one server. It performs all the roles for us. It's installed to a D:\ drive that is on a logical disk provided by our SAN. The LUN is misaligned. I need to recreate the partition w/ diskpart.exe to fix the alignment issue. Is my best bet to halt all SMS related services, do a backup, fix/recreate the partition, and restore from tape? I also have my packages saved to this partition, along w/ part of the SQL server install. This version of SMS runs w/ the built in SQL server included. I do not have an outside SQL server supporting SMS. I do a regular SMS Site backup, but that won't help me w/ the SMSPKG & SMSPKGD$ directories I have on this drive as well, right? Any advice on how best to wipe and restore? KH
