I need to remove a Distribution Point from my SMS 2003 site.  What needs to be done to cleanly remove this DP so that I do not end up with packages in the admin console with an 'Unknown' DP and errors in the distmgr.log related to SMS not being able to update or remove packages for a DP that no longer exists?

I'd love to hear a better way than this:

Go into each package and look at the DP's - remove if you see the retired DP.  After going through them all, then remove the DP under site settings.

That can take forever if you have lots of packages.  Maybe someone has created a script for this, like Dudeworks.

Will CloneDP work if the distribution point server has already been taken down?

NO, I don't believe it will help if the DP has already been removed.
I have used the SQL listed at the bottom of this webpage.
