Hello,
I was wondering how to create a dashboard for an executive from a query that I built in CCM2007.
More specifically how to create a Report from a query. I have tried to copy the WQL code in to the report SQL code area and surprisingly enough it does not work.
Can someone tell me if it is even possible to do such a thing?

Yes, it's possible. What's your query?

Also, if memory serves, a dashboard report can't have prompts--it needs to be able to just run without inputs.

I used these articles to get me started:-

Creating SMS Web Reports from SMS Queries
http://www.myitforum.com/articles/8/view.asp?id=9962 or
http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/bleary/archive/2007/03/12/download-creating-sms-web-reports-from-sms-queries.aspx

They were written for SMS, but apply to ConfigMgr as well.

But to be honest, after a while, you'll probably develop enough skills to take a simple query, and write it as a report.  Or even go straight to a report, without doing an initial query at all.

Sherry is right, Dashboards don't allow prompts. Honestly, in my opinion they're pretty useless. For management you're probably better off coding a separate standalone .HTML page that has hyperlinks to your SCCM reports. That way you can accurately describe the report and what it does before they click on it.

I think Microsoft needs to revisit their reports from a management usage perspective...

I agree.  Though, to be fair, in SCCM 2007 R2, they certainly give you the flexibility to do a lot more using Reporting Services.  You can build whatever the heck you want with that and have lots of delivery options (like email)
