I need to upgrade SCCM 2007 R2 SP1 to SP2 for an environment that I recently inherited. The environment has 2 primary (extra one for failover only) and 15 secondary servers all on the same R2 SP1.
The upgrade to SP2 replaces the SMS_def.mof and I do not know whether or not the SMS_def.mof has been modified.
First task is to find out whether or not it has been modified.
I am considering the DOS comp command for my SMS_def.mof with an "out the box) SMS_def.mof. I would add the .txt extension. First I need to find a default (out the box) SMS_def.mof to compare to. I was thinking the secondary servers would have it because changes aren't populated there.
Is there any reason the DOS comp command would produce false results? Is the DOS comp command a terrible idea?
If the file has been modified, my second task would be to find the changes.
Other than manually going through each line I am trying to find an easy way to identify the changes. I found that "Beyond Compare" works. Does anybody have another option / idea?
