Install Package No user logged on Thursday, January 05, 2017 11:38 AM (permalink)

We are trying to install a package however having some issues.  The problem is we want to install it with no user logged on because it will fail if the app is open.  When it installs it has to go to the Internet to register and since there is no user logged on it can't get through the proxy server.  If we install it with the user logged on it works fine because the user has rights to go through the proxy server. Is there anyway to install an app without a user logged on and instead of using the SYSTEM account point it to an account that can get through the Proxy server.

No but why not have your proxy server allow computer domain account (aka system accounts) access to the internet or at least just this website?

We have done this and you can see where the data is going through the firewall but it won't work like it does when the user is logged on.  The software we are trying to install is Bluebeam.  You have to unregister it from the Internet and then install the new version and reregister it.  We can get the install to work fine but when it tries to unregister from the Internet it says that it works but it doesn't unregister.  However when the user is logged on it works just fine. We have a call into Bluebeam as well but I wanted to make sure that there wasn't something in Config Mgr we could do to get it to work.

What exactly does this mean? why will it not work exactly like ti does when a user is logon? The Computer account (aka the system account) is just another user as far as AD and Proxy are concern. Have you tested the setup manually use the system account? https://verbalprocessor.com/2007/12/05/running-a-cmd-prompt-as-local-system/

That was very helpful in trying to figure this thing out.  I will keep you posted what we find.  Running through the SYSTEM account in the Command Prompt does indeed show a Network Connection error.  Researching it now.
