Other than the Deployment Customization Guide, is there any useful documentation/blogs out there that explain how to setup an MDT datbase to install applications dynamically based on hardware model?

Here's a link to troubleshooting issues with the BDD database: http://blogs.technet.com/benhunter/archive/2007/07/10/bdd-2007-troubleshooting-database-issues.aspx; anything Ben hunter says about BDD/MD/MDT, take as gospel.  Also, when doing web searches, search for bdd.  Is there a specifc thing that you are having issues with?

Hi Jason,

I've read this article before, and it discusses how to troubleshoot DB issues in MDT.  I need some information regarding how to actually get the data base profiled to execute this.

I'm also trying to figure out how to get the Task Sequences, Applications, and Driver Group tabs to populate in my Network Properties. Right now, I only have General, Rules, and Windows PE.

Thanks,

OC

Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, you might also think about using VBScript wrappers. Then you can simply have the VBScript determine the machine manufacturer and model type and then install (or not install) your chosen application. Then you can install it as you normally would any other application.

Just a thought...

My goal is to build a reference system that can deploy to both ACPI MP and ACPI Uniprocessor HAL types.  When the image is built with the ACPI MP, it will deploy the image to a UNI just fine, however, it does not update the HAL type in device manager.  According to Microsoft, the image should be built with the ACPI Uni HAL.

PE 2.1 is just an update to PE like SP1 is an update to Vista.  PE is just an initiator/facilitator, the changes you are making are to XP and thus independant of PE; i.e., it doesn't matter if you're use PE 2005, PE 2 or PE 2.1 because you are imaging XP, not PE.
