In SMS2003's, if you want to run command line to call remote.exe, there's an optional parameter /SMS:NoSQL to skip browsing site server database. This is very useful for our field office ITs to save a lot of waiting time.

From my test, the same argument does not work. Is there anyway or new arguement can do the same thing?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/201793 By default, Remote.exe is located in the %SystemRoot%\SMS\Bin\I386 folder on a primary or secondary site installation. On a computer where only the SMS Administrator console is installed, Remote.exe is located in the %SystemRoot%\SMSADMIN\Bin\I386 folder.

Use Remote.exe with the following syntax:
remote address_type address \\site_server_name\The address_type parameter can have the following values:

•
0 for SMS Resource ID

•
1 for IPX

•
2 for TCP/IP

•
3 for NetBIOSThe address parameter can be a valid Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) network number, a valid Internet Protocol (IP) address, or a valid client (host) name or NetBIOS name. The site_server_name parameter is the site server name for the site where the client belongs.

Note You can also access syntax information by typing remote.exe /? at a command prompt.

The following are two examples of the correct command-line syntax:
remote 2 172.16.0.0 \\big_server\
remote 3 dubn_netbios \\big_server\

Thanks rdixon for your information.

To reduce the unnecessary traffic, we used to run

Remote.exe 2 [HostName or IP] /SMS:NoSQL
(here is an old document explaining this option http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc181198.aspx)

I don't see the new RC.exe is taking this /SMS:NoSQL any more.

For example, an administrator sitting in secondary site trying to remote control his/her client in next room, where SCCM server resides across slow link, visiting SCCM server will take LONG time back and forth.

I wonder if there's anything like

RC.exe 1 [HostName or IP] /SCCM:NoSQL
