hey , when trying to install SCCM for multiple days now, everything seems to be ok except the management point

When I take a look at "Site System Status" all roles are OK but the management point role has failed.
I tried to reinstall it, but that didn't make a difference.

Ireviewed my logs and that came upwith the following  : in the "configmgr status message viewer" , there is an error that says :

MP Control Manager detected management point is not responding to HTTP requests.
The HTTP status code and text is 500, Internal Server Error.

I can not install any clients via push as long as the management point isn't working correct

and on the side of the client this is what the logs tell me :
clientlocation.log > all fine > current management point is xeon.domain.local > correct
locationservices.log > all seems to be OK
clientIDManagerStartup.log  > client cannot register
<![LOG[RegTask: Client is not registered. Sending registration request...]LOG]!><time="11:27:48.010+-120" date="04-07-2008" component="ClientIDManagerStartup" context="" type="1" thread="3760" file="regtask.cpp:1434">

could someone let me know what the issue is, so that there can be communication from the clients via the MP to sccm and back ?

Thanks for reading

If you have WSUS installed on it then you can have a conflict in the IIS portion of the MP.
Do you have both your certs installed on the MP.  Do you have the server in the AD group (can't remember the name off hand)

I haven't installed WSUS yet, so that can't be the problem.
I already tried some SMS2003 solutions, but those didn't work at all (if you're interested : last two posts on http://www.blogcastrepository.com/forums/thread/2359.aspx )

Can you explain me what you mean by "both certs installed on the MP" ?
where can I check that ?

thanks for your answer already

Have you verified that the MP installed correctly? Check the mpsetup.log and mpmsi.log for errors. If those are good then check mpcontrol.log for lilnes that contain status = 200 (200 is good, and you should see one line containing that like every 10 minutes).

Something's either missing or not configured correctly within IIS, and (as Mark mentioned) it's quite possible that the MP didn't even install correctly.

Since the MP control manager is returning a status of "management point is not responding to HTTP requests", the first thing that I'd do (after you ensure that it is installed successfully) is verify that the MP is using the same port as your clients (port 80).

Thanks for the help people
I have reinstalled IIS & SCCM on the server and now that error doesn't occur no more
I only have 2 clients succesfully installed of my 4 clients  (test environment of course), and it seems to be impossible to get those installed

anyways, thanks for the help !
