Move Folder to Server when Installing Windows 7 on Windows XP machine using SCCM 2007 Thursday, September 02, 2010 7:35 PM (permalink)

In windows XP machine, I have a folder C:\development which I want to keep when I am deploying Windows 7 on it using the task sequence in SCCM 2007.

I am thinking to move the development folder to server temporarily and when the machine will be build with windows 7, the data from server can be restored to the machine.

Note: I do not need to migrate any user state information from windows XP

Can anyone please help me with ideas how I can achieve this?

Best Regards
Kalam

You can still use USMT to migrate only that one folder, even though you do not want to do user state.  A bonus feature is with USMT 4.0, you can use hardlinks to keep the data on the disk and still migrate the OS to 7, thus making the upgrade faster!
