Two things will change the size of your images. First, the WIM format uses internal compression. Second, because of the OSD model, you no longer have to, or should, cram everything into your image. Most of my XP images wind up around 800MB-1GB. This is often including MS Office. Vista images are typically larger, usually around 1.5-2GB just because Vista is that much bigger. 2003 is comparable to XP. Also note that ConfigMgr can use Binary Delta Replication to distribute updated WIMs to your DPs.
