I have a strange issue in that I currently have a collection in which I advertise an OSD deployment task sequence to, and after the successful completion of the OS deployment, the advertisement tries to run again on the same machine.

I have looked at the collection and there are no duplicate advertisements asscoiated with the collection in question, and I have setup the advertisment to "always run". See the attached document for the advertiesment settings..

Any idea why this happens?

Cheers

Hi Idegroot,
Your advertiement settings look a little odd. You've got the mandatory advertisement to run as soon as possible (as an aside, I think that the olde lags here on the board would wince at this, we always prefer that this entry have a date rather than asap, I can't speak for ConfigMgr, but under SMS ASAP was always a headache.) and to always rerun. If you left the rerun settings at the default of never, or removed the mandatory assignment then you wouldn't have this issue.

I see that you've got the TS available to PXE service points, so presumably you're booting into this task sequence (seems unlikely that you'd be doing a zero touch rebuild of servers, no?) in which case you don't need the mandatory assignment (unless you want to skip the second F12 request). You simply need to ensure that the servers to be PXE booted are members of the collection that the now non-mandatory advertiement is targeted at.

I.E.:
advertise the task sequence to the "SERVERS" collection.
Do not provide a mandatory time or event, leave the advertisement at the default of non-mandatory
Make the advertisement available to PXE
Add your server to be built to the "SERVERS" collection
PXE boot the server.

Hope this helps

John
