I am having an intermittment issue where the PXE boot process works for a while, and then stops responding to PXE request from machines:

SP1 is installed..

From what I have read, deleting the machine from the console and re-adding the MAC address and restarting the WDS service always fixes the issue...Obviously this is more a work around than usual practice

Currently, I have a mandatory advert set to always re-run, and still when the client boots is shows the attached message.

I am not using MDT 2008
I don't want to constantly remove and re-add the machine account just to get the PXE function working correctly each time, everytime.

Hi
Have you tried the 'Clear Last PXE advertisement' in the console right click tools for the computer ?

Hi,

You will need to check your advert settings, you need to enable the Make this task sequence available to boot media and PXE option. The default is to have this off.

HI guys,

Both suggestions have been done...that was the first things we checked...as I said this is a intermittent problem...

I've run into the same thing on my servers. I read a post that suggested refreshing the DPs that your boot images are on. That's been working for me so far. Bit of a pain, but at least it's working.

Items 1 and 2 are the most frequent causes for a working PXE system to stop working...

Network Access Account Not Set
Resolution: Go into the Client Policy in SCCM and set a Network Access Account. It sometimes "disappears" even after everything has been working fine.

Resolution: Check the PXE Certificate in the SCCM console. Verify that the Root CA is trusted. Alternatively, reset the expiration date. Sometimes the PXE process stops liking the certificate.

GetHostByName Failed
Resolution: Ensure the FQDN is properly set.

Thanks very much, the issue was that the PXE cert's were not installed and and not trusted...after following the link PXE is now working as expected...
