What's the reason for going this route since SCCM uses WSUS in the first place? By going with a stand-alone WSUS server, you (among other things) lose the built-in reporting and the advantage of maintenance windows within SCCM, and (off the top of my head) I can't think of anything that you'd gain. Are all of your clients SMS 2003, which cannot take advantage of SCCM's WSUS features?
