I've recently configured 20 site servers as distribution point shares using BITS in ConfigMgr 2007. All but 2 successfully recieved the packages. I've double checked and re-done the IIS installation and configuration and DP set up in SCCM but cannot get those 2 sites to work; they are set up the same as all the other site servers. The error when pushing out the package (below) points to a problem with IIS, so I removed the option to use BITS on those site servers and the package is delivered to the DP with no problem. I really need to use BITS on all sites but am stumped as to what the problem could be. One other thing I tried on one site was to manually set up the virtual directories, applications pools, and web server extension for SMS (copying a site that was working) and still the same error persists. Suggestions? Thanks Severity,Type,Site code,Date / Time,System,Component,Message ID,Description Error,Milestone,000,6/22/2008 8:52:19 AM,SMS,SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER,2344,Failed to create virtual directory on the defined share or volume on distribution point "["Display=\\VVHS\PACKAGE$\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=000"]\\VVHS\PACKAGE$\". Possible cause: Distribution Manager requires that IIS base components be installed on the local SMS Site Server in order to create the virtual directory. Distribution Manager also requires that IIS Web Services be installed on the Distribution Point Server that needs to support Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). Solution: Verify that IIS base components are installed on the local SMS Site Server, and IIS Web Services are installed on the Distribution Point Server.
