Since we don't enable "Grant Access permissions by user", I've been tasked to run reports on Techs using SMS remote tools.

I need your assistance on creating a Query to report on Techs using Remote tools to show when, where, how long and on what system.

Your help is appreciated.

You should be able to see some default reports under "Status Messages - Audit" of the web reports named: "Remote Control - All computers remote controlled by a user" and "Remote Control - All remote control information". This should get you started on reporting on Remote Tools actions.

Thanks Richard, I would like the query to prompt for a Range of Dates, also is there way to report on other types of remote tools usage, such Dameware, RDP and T.S.?

Well, Try navigating to Status Messages Queries under System Status. You'll see the below 4 query options to view Remote Tools activity.
  1. Remote Tools Activity Initiated at a Specific Site
  2. Remote Tools Activity Initiated by a Specific User
  3. Remote Tools Activity Initiated from a Specific System
  4. Remote Tools Activity Targeted at a Specific System

I can say too much about this feature as we don't use it here at Microsoft.
let me know how it goes.

Thank your for your help Richard, I was able to use some code from both #1 and #4 to create special Queries.

My Quest to find a way to track the usage of other Tools like Dameware will continue.

Software metering might give you some info. Would state what systems have it installed, and who used it. Just not who it was used on.

thx Mark,  yes we use ExpressMetrix for the meetering, and we collect the info based on usage.

What started this is the idea of finding a way thru SMS to track if an RDP service has been initiated TO and FROM, and /or if a log can be collected from the recipient showing a connection.
