Question: When creating a master image for Vista, are you supposed to enter the registration key (a KMS key) when you have a KMS server on your network, or do you do this via the TS? Or shouldn't you do it at all, and the clients activate themselves automatically when they discover the KMS on the network? I tried setting the key via the TS in SCCM, and it worked for some clients it seems, but now I am told the key is already used. Guess this was the wrong way and I have to call MS to get it reactivated....

A KMS key is for the KMS (key management server) only.  Vista (and 2008) clients will find the KMS via DNS and activate themseleves automatically from the KMS without having to talk to Microsoft.  An MAK (multiple activation key) is for individual systems and will force Vista (and 2008) clients to go to Redmond for activation over the Internet.  To directly answer your question, you do not need to a key in Vista (or 2008) if you have a KMS. This applies whether you are automatically deploying an image of Vista or manually installing it.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up! One more question though:

How do you deploy Vista through SCCM when you don't apply a key during the TS? The installation halts and asks for a key, and then you have to press "next" to skip it.
