Hi,

I have 2 partitions (C and E), I redirect the Docs & Settings to the E-drive.
In case of a refresh scenario, the OS gets installed on C and E stays untouched (like it's supposed to be).

When I log on on the fresh installed PC with the appropriate UserID, a new profile gets created on the E-drive (userID.domain).
How can I avoid this? How can I tell Windows that it can continue using the existing User profile?
Anyone an idea?

Thanks Nico

Are you using USMT in the process?

Hi

No but I'm not restoring anything in this scenario. Wipe C-drive and leave the E-drive.

For the Replace scenario where a backup\restore is required I use robocpy.
My customer where I'm located now, is an environment where a user has full admin rights so he could store his data where ever he wants on his C-drive. (we will change that in the near future)
Following my tests USMT was quite slow backing up data outside the Docs & Settings.

Try what is suggested in this link.  It may work for what you are trying to do.  http://help.lockergnome.com/windows/transfer-data-local-profile-domain-profi-ftopict444172.html
