Two things: First, has anyone found a solution to the problem that you can't connect to a remote pc if there is no user logged on?
Second, when I try to remote control a Vista machine, as soon as the UAC comes up, I lose the connection and have to reconnect. Needless to say, this gets old really fast when you try to fix a problem for a user. Any setting I have forgotten to set somewhere?

The remote control when no one is logged in is a by-design side effect due to the redesign of the window seesions in Vista (and 2008).  It has been brought up to Microsoft and they are hopefully working on a fix. The official answer, as stated in the dialog box message, is to use RDP when no user is logged on.  Although a bit inconvenient, it does achieve the same goal.

I haven't seen UAC get in the way on Vista so I not sure what's going on there.

use remote desktop vista - vista...

Or remote control xp - vista...

That is the solution when no user is logged on...
