The reporting point will actually use a sub-directory of the default web site on the system (as does the MP and most other IIS based ConfigMgr components) so there will be no conflicts. As for setting up HTTPs, it's no different than configuraing SSL on any IIS based web site: get a certificate, install certificate, turn on SSL. If you are using IIS 6, the IIS6 resource kit has a tool to generate a self signed cert, IIS 7 can generate a self-signed cert all by itself.
